It used to really bother me how people looked at me when I was in pain, feeling sorry for me, unsure what to do. People have been used to me being the one to lift them up and they seem to change in an uncomfortable way when I can't be that person for them. We are in charge of our feelings as well as our reactions. I enjoy making people laugh and decided to take a bit of a comical approach to something that would often make me feel worse. The Listener is a fun moving portrait reacting to conversations it's not a part of. When you study someone's reactions you can learn a lot about them.
TRANSIT - NFT
Transit - v. Pass across or through (an area). I chose this piece as my genesis because my daily life is all about going with the flow. Living with chronic pain poses many daily challenges, especially when other's cannot see your pain. Art has always been an outlet for my creativity but I have also come to learn it is a magical form of intuitive therapy and meditation. This piece symbolizes breaking through barriers and discovering pieces of yourself along the way. May this bring you encouragement to move through all you need to on your journey.
